Blog Reboot

Hey faithful readers,

Since I am no longer in London, I have decided to do a bit of reshuffling with my blog's layout, title, and overall objective. It will continue to be about what's new with me, stories that I come across that I want to share with you, or whatever else I feel like putting up.

I'm not exactly sure what I want to call it yet ("Nick in London" is now officially dead). I did come up with one thing that seemed to roll off the tongue pretty well; I welcome any comments or suggestions if you think it totally sucks.

As of right now, I am home, still unemployed, but searching. I have begun to help my dad sell some stuff on eBay. I reeeeeeally need to go for a run, but I'm afraid of messing with my foot that I hurt a few weeks ago. I hope the weather clears up soon.

I went to see "The Hangover" a couple of days ago. I thought it was pretty decent, but not spectacular. I look forward to Transformers 2 coming out Wednesday. What irks me is that if I were still in the UK, I could have seen it on Friday. What gives? It's an American movie!

I am now back home in the great state of Connecticut. Seeing family is great, but boredom follows. Nothing else to report.

Final days...

Update: A union of underground drivers is striking today (see picture above); only about 40% of tube trains are running.

It seems the whole past year has slipped by me; I can hardly believe I'll be home by Saturday night. It really has been a blast these past couple of weeks (aside from a surprise project presentation). I have been spending some much-deserved fun time with my friends here without the worry of exams--including dinners, going to the usual clubs and pubs, and bigger events at fabric and matter. I don't think there has been a day this week where I've been up before noon... oops! I think it will be a good thing to be home, a welcomed come-down from all of this, though I will miss everyone terribly that I'll be leaving behind in London (those of you who are reading this staying behind, I will follow up with a more personal good-bye later on). I'm pretty sure the exams (apart from 1 really abysmal one) went well; I'll have to wait until July to see those grades.

But still, good heavens, where has the time gone! I haven't even started packing up yet!

Thorpe Park

Yesterday, about 14 people from JD went out for a day of amusement at Thorpe Park, a smallish theme park about 30 minutes southwest of London by train in a town called Staines. For those of you from New England, it is about halfway between the size of Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT, and Six Flags New England in Agawam, MA. It has a few gems, including a brand new ride based on the Saw movies. There is also the first roller coaster in the world to contain 10 full loops, Colossus. It was hot, so the obligatory boat-plunging-into-water ride was in order. There is also a crazy ride called Stealth, which basically launches you from 0 to 80 mph in 1.8 seconds, and then up and down a vertical climb; it's all over in about 20 seconds. All in all, it was a fun day out; everyone was tired and sunburned by the end, and quite full of junk food. Mission successful.

My time here grows thin... :(
